Miscellany

With this blog being all new, and there being so many possible topics to write about and whatnot, I’ve found it difficult to narrow it down to just one. I offer, instead of something entertaining or insightful, this random mishy-mashy list of miscellany I find myself fond of lately. It’s like, Oprah’s Favorite Things, only less swanky, and nobody gets anything for free.

1. Peter Pan Collars.
I like the sweet, vintage look and nothing says sweet or vintage more than a classic Peter Pan collar. I picked one up at Goodwill last weekend, despite the fact that the blouse it’s attached to is three sizes too big. Just look at it, and ask yourself if you can blame me:

If it’s tucked in to a high-waisted skirt, with a cardigan over top, nobody’s going to know the difference anyway, right?
2. These deep dish oatmeal chocolate fudge cookie bars. I made a batch last week. Yumbelievable*.

At the same time, I discovered a delightfully useful recipe to use as a substitute for sweetened condensed milk. All it takes is 2 eggs, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Three cheers for substitutes!
3. Teddy Bear Sunflowers. I ordered some seeds as soon as I learned that such a thing existed. Because, LOOK AT THEM.

4. Puppy Chow. Sigh. The problem with puppy chow is, it’s too easy to make. And so you make way too much, and then you eat it all, and before you know it, that blouse you bought that was three sizes too big fits perfectly.

5. Bad puns.
Ha! I lie. I always love bad puns.
